2016 Bobar Chardonnay yarra valley, australia

Reliably idiosyncratic chardonnay from Bobar, if that is a thing.
I like it, typically. Abstract expressionism? Shows a lot of personality. Shades of Jura in the sherry-like funk. Lots to like. Nuts, fino sherry, ripe apple, sea spray, brown lime. I really like the complexity and unique scents here. The palate is very tangy, set electric on vinegary acidity, but not untoward, striking out into nutty, green apple, zesty sherry-like character, and mouthwatering in the best way. It’s wild, no doubt, and yet ultra fresh feeling, but you’ll have to take the deep end here. Would be great with something savoury. Or salty. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
