Purveyors of fine grape juice
2015 Domaine Léonine Bottle Neck languedoc roussillon, france
$35

50% Grenache Noir (25-year old vines) and 50% Syrah (30-year old vines), grown on sandy loam soils in Saint André.
15-days carbonic maceration, followed by pressing, and then aged for 6 months in old barriques. Bottled by gravity. Very fresh and vibrant - the carbonic maceration gives it that lift. You get violets and wild herbs, blackberries and black cherries, as well as a bit of wildness - this is extremely delicious and smashable, but still packs depth. Absolutely packed with flavour, and over time the perfumes really open up. Slightly more complex and detailed than chic et pas cher, and is looking really, really good at the moment. Serve slightly chilled.
