This 2014 "Cuvee 100%' has been rested for six months post shipping and, as was the case with the previous vintage, it is one of the fascinatingly delicious Gamay being made in the Loire. This cuvee comes from Christophe and Geraldine's gently sloping parcel on the outskirts of the village of St-Haon-le-Vieux, about 25 minutes north-west of Roanne. The vineyard is made up of extraordinarily coarse, decomposed granite and all of the wines from here have a distinct freshness and fluidity as a result. This cuvee is always fermented as whole bunches, in concrete, and bottled after 7-8 months, depending on the year. Christophe is fascinated by the impact of having a higher concentration of alternative root systems loosening the top soil in his vineyard and the health of his vines and vibrancy of his wines are perfect reflections of this.
