2014 Jerome Lambert Le Fil Rouge
This is extremely sensitive farming and winemaking. Jerome promotes bio-diversity though doesn't make a point of planting herbs or flowering plants amongst the vines, preferring to allow what is native to that part of Anjou grow freely. His vines are relatively old, on average 40 years, and the soils are classically Anjou. The whites are grown on lots of black and grey schist while the reds are planted on more sandy loam. The winemaking is simple however the fruit selection is beyond rigorous. It's fanatical. This is a medium to light bodied blend of Cabernet Franc and Grolleau that is extremely delicious and utterly joyous. It's grown on sandy. loamy soils fermented and then aged for 10 months without any time in oak and is brimming with life.
