Purveyors of fine grape juice
2014 Forlorn Hope Suspiro Del Moro sonoma, USA

There were lots of port varieties brought into the Napa Valley in the early days and Matt Rorick finds himself drawn to them.
This, Alvarelhao from Suisun Valley in California. Minimal intervention winemaking, unique vineyard sources. Wild! Aromas are helter skelter in rose petal, currants, anise spice, olives and herbal things. It’s intriguing and compelling. Feels satiny and light in body, fresh kick of sour-sweet acidity through the finish and a roll of red fruit flavour between. It’s pushing the amaro herbal thing pretty far too, but utterly delicious, just don’t expect usual structure and finesse, instead enjoy briskness, refreshment factor and that amazing texture. Very exciting drinking. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
