Purveyors of fine grape juice
2014 Eastern Peake Intrinsic Pinot Noir ballarat, australia
$42

Eastern Peake was established in 1983 with plantings to pinot noir and chardonnay, an unlikely consideration in the Ballarat region, but one that was sanctioned by Trevor Mast who looked over the site prior to planting.
A small producer eking out interesting wines from their dozen-or-so hectares of low-cropping vines. This ‘Intrinsic’ wine is the pinot noir staple for Eastern Peake.
Smells fresh and fruity with twists of earth, briar and pepper. Effortless charm in perfume. Pretty in drinking too – a crisp, dryish flow of medium-bodied red fruit flavour with squeaky acidity keeping the wine full of vim and vigour, while al dente tannins trim and provide pucker. It’s fine, flowing, delicious and, added-up, very enjoyable. Feels unadorned, yet shows structure and complexity. Super stuff. Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
