2014 Domaine Des Vignes Du Maynes
From the world’s longest continuously producing organic vineyard (970AD). The vineyards are 6.5 hectares planted on clay and limestone. Biodynamic practices in the vineyards and minimal intervention in the winery, the wines are fermented with wild yeasts and are unfined, unfiltered and bottled with minimal sulphur. The Pinot Noir shows cherry and black current fruit on the nose and palate with a hint of exotic spice (think musk and allspice). The fruit is savoury rather than sweet with dry woody tannins and a light, herbal/amaro finish.
