2014 Domaine des Quatre Pierres El Pépé
Edouard Fortin created the domaine in 2010, and has 4.5 hectares of organic vineyards, 300 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Massif Central. Winemaker Edouard Fortin says this is a tribute wine, in respect of our seniors. 100% Carignan, from 70 year old vines. The grapes undergo carbonic maceration, and after 13 days of fermentation the grapes are pressed and left in barrels (4-6 years of age) for 10 months. Lifted aromas with hints of tamarind, cocoa and red fruits. Beautifully soft, with a real complexity and freshness. How good is old vine Carignan!
