2014 / 2018 L'Ostal Le Tour
From the outset, Louis and Charlotte were eager to make a multi-vintage blend but simply needed the right vintages to marry together.
In 2014, Louis kept a single barrel of Malbec from the brilliant Le Tour site aside and simply waited for the right wine to blend it with. The '14s at L'Ostal are medium bodied, have particularly fresh acidity and are very stable. Neither '15', '16 or '17 provided a wine that Louis felt suited to blend with this precious barrel of Malbec but in 2018 the conditions were just right. The year made for wines with a little extra plumpness and sweet fruit, perfect for the vertical and nervy 2014. Thus, the 1418 Le Tour was born.
