2013 The Wine Farm Sun And Air
We love a wine with a bit of age on it. It's a rare thing these days. Prior to taking carriage of their own vines on The Wine Farm, Neil farmed a small block of Pinot on a beautiful and challenging vineyard called Belrose just outside Dumbulk, South Gippsland. The warmth of the 2013 vintage is evident in the wine but is balanced by the grapes having been picked before the heatwave that struck the region in the first week of March. The use of 100% whole bunches in the ferment brings a lift to the nose and palate and at just 12.5% alcohol - unusually low considering the warm and very dry vintage - the wine gives a lovely play between dark and light fruit.
