From three different Eden Valley vineyards; winemaker Abel Gibson’s father’s, another grower that Abel sources from who planted in the 1970s, and the 80-year-old vineyard Abel bought (and lives on) at 500 metres.
It’s all about premium parcels here. Batches spend some seven to ten days on skins, made with pigeage like red wines, basket pressed, then left on lees for ten to twelve months. Drink in big glasses and just below room temperature.
Golden with amber tinge in colour. Deep, brooding perfume of honeycomb, ginger, preserved lemons, dried apples. Scintillating. Deep in flavour, chewy in texture, mellow and yet shows assertive, powdery web of tannins. Long in flavour, finishes fine, mouthwatering and refreshing.
