2013 Casas de Bucalemu Sauvignon Blanc
Emeric from Bucalemu is a classic natural winemaker, French to the core, and Rhone leaning in his winemaking. This is Sauvignon Blanc, which you should always be wary about - but not in this case! It's from the Central Coast close to Santo Domingo on gravelly clay with high organic matter, Casas de Bucalemu was planted in 2008 and is organically farmed. Two SB clones, 242 and 01, are hand harvested and fermented separately using native yeasts. Destemmed and pressed into stainless, long 5 week ferment in cold conditions. Clone 01 goes thru malo. Both tanks stay on lees for 11 months. Juicy.
